High School Bullying

High School Bullying

“When people hurt you over and over, think of them like sand paper. They may scratch and hurt you a bit, but in the end, you end up polished and they end up useless.”

I have recently read about High School bullying and one of the stories was about Robert Wayne Gladden, a student at Perry Hall High School. This student and a friend came to school with guns and shot the bullies that were bullying them and I found it shocking that bullying is not taken seriously in schools. Another story I read was about how PSA are trying to bring awareness to High School bullying. I hope that people will see these PSAs and realize that bullying causes more mental damage then physical damage. Another article I read was about a report of ongoing bullying at Enumclaw High School and how the staff is having meetings about the incident.

“Could a scar be like the rings of a tree, reopened with each emotional season?”

One of the biggest stories about bullying that I have read was about Jamrey Rodemeyer, a student at a Buffalo High School and committed suicide because of bullying. Jamrey was at the focus of homophobic remarks from bullies at his school because of his sexual orientation. Lady Gaga stood up against bullying after she heard about this story and heard

that the boy was a fan of her and her music. Many more celebrities should stand up and help the fight and have the bullying problem brought to the public. People should also realize that this is not a one time occurring problem and that it happens everyday to many more children and young people.

“Life is a fight, but not everyone’s a fighter. Otherwise, bullies would be an endangered species.”

Bishop Kearney High School has a very strict policy about bullying, intimation, harassing, hazing, name calling, verbal and or physical confrontations. These altercations will receive disciplinary action including suspension and or expulsion from the school. I think more schools should have this policy to stop bullying in schools.
